Sustained Effort

My life is too busy of late. When there is time for recreation, there are too many options and too little time.

Without daily Mass and holy hour it must be more difficult for individuals to maintain peace in the midst of their responsibilities.

Participating in weight lifting, swimming and actively gardening and using various excercise machines is the rule of the day lately.

Consistantly using the stationary bike, stair climber, treadmill and the Nordic track between weight lifting routine sets, makes the routine more effective and enjoyable.

Keeping up my responsiblities as teacher, home manager, mother and friend to my children's children keeps me active.

Hopefully we will find time to take time off from routine before Anna begins college. She has her fall schedule now. She went to her freshmen orientation this week. Anna has entered a pre-med curriculum with a major in biology. Many will come to depend on Anna Patricia in the future, whatever she decides on, she seems destined towards great responsiblity.

Do many depend on you?

The Sauna

I visited the sauna today with my daughter Anna.

Anna Patricia has been homeschooled all her life. She plays piano very well, can ballet dance, will test for her brown belt in Kung Fu along with my daughter Sophie Elizabeth this Saturday.

The most interesting side to Anna (in addition to her sense of humor) is her intellect. Her memory is exceptional. She begins college this fall and is enrolled in a scholarship program.

Anna is memorizing The Rhyme of The Ancient Mariner just for fun. Whenever she spends time in the sauna, she learns five more verses. She has finished the first part.

She recites all she knows aloud before our time in the sauna ends.

I love spending time with Anna.

Have you ever tried to memorize The Rhyme of The Ancient Mariner?

A Prayer For Priests

O Jesus, Eternal High Priest, live in (insert name) act in him, speak in and through him. Think your thoughts in his mind, love through his heart, give him Your own disposition and feelings. Teach, lead and guide him always. Correct, enlighten and expand his thoughts and behavior. Possess his soul, take over his entire personality and life. Replace him with Yourself. Incline him to constant adoration and thanksgiving. Pray in and through him. Let him live in You and keep him in this intimate union always.

O Mary, Immaculate Conception, Mother of Jesus and Mother of Priests, pray and intercede for (insert name) . Amen

You can also put your name in the prayer or any soul you desire to pray for.

Do you like this particular prayer?

Point Twelve Prayer To The Sacred Heart

This prayer is taken from The Little Treasury Of The Sacred Heart. I edited the prayer somewhat (making it my own). It covers most all souls in the event that we have neglected someone in prayer.

It is good to say it when we wake up and before we go to sleep at night.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, abundantly pour down your blessings upon your Holy Church, upon the Supreme Pontiff, and upon all the clergy and laity; give perseverance to the just, convert sinners, enlighten unbelievers, bless our relatives, friends and benefactors, heal the sick, console the suffering, mend all hearts that are broken, help the dying, free the souls in purgatory, and extend over all hearts the reign of your love, Amen.

I add and beg for Mary's intercession whenever I pray.

Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

How often do you pray?

Point Eleven A Father's Day Prayer for My Father

You Never
You never said I'm leaving
You never said goodbye
You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knew why
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died
In life I loved you dearly
In death I love you still
In my heart you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill
It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn't go alone
For part of me went with you,
The day God took you home.
Author Unknown

For all Fathers who live in our hearts, within our families, in the Laity, in the world, in the Clergy, in purgatory, in heaven, we pray for you with deep felt gratitude.

My father Robert (my mother called him Bob) died February 6, 1969. He was 52.

He woke me up that Thursday morning at 6:15 am for class and then went out on the front porch of our house to catch his breath. His coffee was left at the head of the table where he had been enjoying the quiet of the morning. I heard a strange sound, a choking sound and ran to find the answer.

My protection, my mentor, my provider, my father who gave me life and love had collapsed. I tried to revive him and then ran to my mother. In moments from my panic, my brother and sister came to the scene. I called an ambulance while my brother tried to revive my father. The police arrived first and then the ambulance. All attempts to revive him failed. He was gone. In moments, my strong, intelligent, tenderhearted father had been taken from us.

Later the doctors report proved he had died of a heart aneurism that had burst.

There was peace on his face in the moments when God was taking him. When I tried to revive him, there was peace on his face.

Through the intercession of Our Lady, all the Angels and Saints and my father, may all fathers be rewarded for their sacrifice and may they be granted good health and long life this Father's Day.

Did you remember that Father's Day is this Sunday, June 17,2007?

Point Ten Michael's Birthday

Celebrating Michael's life is always fun.

After five hours of labor, Michael was born naturally with no medication. He was perfect and seemed happy to be here. His first moments of life were spent, quietly, calmly looking around with a slight frown wondering about all that had just taken place.

Michael is an extremely intelligent child of God. He is easy to care for and his sisters have always been quite fond of him. Michael has two older sisters (Miranda and Adrienne) and two younger sisters (Anna and Sophie) that he continues to keep entertained.

Michael works as a programmer but still creates music on the piano and guitar in his spare time.

He and Anna Claire welcomed their daughter last year. Abigail is eight months old now.

Michael is my only son. Michael is my only beloved son.

Happy Birthday Michael!

Point Nine Jack Sparrow

Happy Birthday to Johnny Depp born June 9, 1963. Thank you for your great portrayal of Jack Sparrow.

Mike, Anna, Sophie and I will see Jack Sparrow and his crew again today at the movie theatre. It is always good to see Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End one more time! This will make our fourth viewing of At World's End! (Some may see this as obsessive.)

Thank you Johnny Depp for being an exceptional entertainer!

May Our Lord draw all actors and actresses closer to His Sacred Heart more each day of their life. May they be guided by Our Lady and show honor and gratitude to Her more each day and may God reward them for their good and honest hard work.

How will you be spending your weekend?

Point Eight The Guild

I just returned from attending the Guild testing for Michael, Anna, and Sophie.

Each year Pailin auditions students and selects from all her piano students to participate in the National Guild of Piano Teachers, Teacher Division of American College of Musicians, United states of America.

If the student passes the test after playing and being judged by an assigned Guild Member, the student then gains membership in the National Fraternity of Student Musicians, Student Division of The American College of Musicians, and Piano Hobbyists or (State Members) of the World for one year.

Today Michael, Anna, and Sophie were among the twelve students that Pailin chose from among the many students taking lessons from her. They all three passed, performed exceptionally well with Superior and Superior + ratings. Pailin was pleased with their performance.

Piano Hobbyists Of The World certificates are awarded to students who do not elect to memorize their pieces (Michael).

State Member Of The World certificates are awarded to students that do memorize their pieces. Adult students decide for themselves if they desire to memorize their pieces. Youth students must memorize their pieces.

Michael Albert's birthday is Monday and Michael Alexander's birthday is Tuesday. When Michael Alexander was a little boy he was bothered by the fact that his birthday celebration followed right after his father's but now that he is turning thirty, he enjoys celebrating both his father's birthday and his own two days in a row.

Do you play a musical instrument?

Point Seven Charity

On Sunday a fellow Catholic called and gave me needed information to assist a family in need and a student in need that he had spoken of the day before. I always enjoy helping this Priest to be. I find him trustworthy. He is a personal friend of my daughter Adrienne and her husband, Matt.

This circumstance made me think about charity and generousity. People sometimes comment and thank me for being generous but not for being charitable.

Charitable--
  1. Generous in giving money or other help to the needy.
  2. Mild or tolerant in judging others; lenient.
  3. Of, for, or concerned with charity: a charitable organization.
Generous
  1. Liberal in giving or sharing. See synonyms at liberal.
  2. Characterized by nobility and forbearance in thought or behavior; magnanimous.
  3. Marked by abundance; ample: a generous slice of cake.
  4. Having a rich bouquet and flavor: a generous wine.
  5. Obsolete. Of noble lineage.
"Mild or tolerant in judging others." I need to work on that one!

The Sunday visit was very active. Abby (seven months) was very happy and was smiling very often. She liked being walked so she could experience new surroundings.

I watched part of Pinnochio with Parker (3). That video can be shocking!

Miranda Patricia asked me (communicated through her body language) to put her in her high chair for the first time (1). She and Parker like corn dogs and chocolate milk when they come here lately.

Our children played Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture DVD Edition volume 2. Michael and Anna Claire were winning when the game was called to a halt.

Leslie (Boyun) received her last chemo. She was happy when she called. She has been fighting a heroic battle against breast cancer since September of 2006.

Would you rather be known as a charitable person or a generous person?

Point Six To the victor belong the spoils

When I was given the rank of Lt. Colonel (sponsor to the officer holding the rank of Lt. Colonel in high school) I did not merit that position. I was popular and the assignment was totally subjective.

My peer who should have held the position, published in the high school news paper, a congratulatory paragraph concerning me that included "to the victor go the spoils".

A recent Google search explained more clearly to me her comment. She knew she was a better candidate for the position. She knew she was better qualified. Still, I did OK as commander.

Sometimes unexpected assignments purify our souls and make each of us see life and it's circumstances more clearly. The assignment is then suffered through and we learn from our short comings and our strengths.

Two members of religious orders communicated with me yesterday. One to ask for assistance for those in need and one to announce election results. I hope I was able to assist both. Only God knows.

Do you try to be Mary's dutiful daughter? Do you try to be Mary's dutiful son?

Point Five Middleburg

We spent time today caring for Parker and Miranda. Justin and Miranda attend a Tai Chi class on Saturday morning. We pick up their children and enjoy spending time with them for a while.

We went to the Upper Crust. Parker loves to go in there. He really enjoys eating a piece of the Angel food cake purchased from there. Miranda Patricia likes the sun chips.

The vote is in concerning the new leader of the Brothers. The new leader has decided to change the title of the office he has been elected to hold.

We do pray for the best for all concerned, for healing for all members and that they are lead by God to regain any ground lost during the last administration's watch.

Through the intercession of Mother Mary, may God's Holy Will always be done.

Are you Catholic?
